A couple of days ago on my way home from work I was listening to NPR's On Point program panel discussion regarding the second Presidential debate. I was so frustrated with the so called "intellectuals" discussing the state of affairs and how the economy is Romney's strongest argument against the President that I could puke. However, there was a caller who called in to give his opinion and it was a thing of beauty. If there is ANYONE on the Obama election team who is helping with speeches they should give "carl" a call even the moderators thought so...take a listen after the jump
The entire show was interesting but Carl's call started at 25.28 if you'd like to skip ahead http://soundcloud.com/....
Carl in Nashville, TN
CARL: I take quite offense when I hear anyone say that President Obama shouldn't...that it's getting old to bring up what he inherited and....I couldn't disagree more because as a small business owner I remember and as an American citizen I remember how horrible the 2nd half of 2008 was and to say that "that's getting old".....no we lost 800K jobs a month you can't say that enough. We cannot allow republicans with the same economic plan to get back in control of the reigns.
MODERATOR and panel: Carl flip it over then how will it be different in a 2nd Obama administration if that should come to pass...what about that Romney question?
CARL: I think I think right now I'll tell you right now I would take gaining 150K jobs a month over losing 700K jobs a month any day. I think the plans that he has implemented are starting to work and have been working. When we've gained 5 million jobs...uh..that's better than losing 9 million any day and I think the President was very forceful in pointing out inaccuracies of from Gov. Romney. I think he was most presidential when he turned at him and looked him in the eye and took up for his team & said that he was that he found it offensive that he would use something like Libya uh..as a political football when that's not what a President or Commander-in-Chief does so...(crosstalk)
MODERATOR and panel: Carl Carl we got it forgive me we're up against a break here but I want to come to back to the Benghazi issue because I'm not so sure it wasn't used in a political way we'll look at that..but Carl says: come on I'd rather (laughter)..Carl should be a speechwriter here (laughter) gain 150K a month vs lose 700-800K uh..but still that what's going to be different vs. we don't want to go back where's the traction whose got more tang?....
(bold emphasis are mine)
I think the Obama team should borrow from Carl and state over and over again "I would take gaining 150K jobs a month over losing 700K jobs a month any day..and we cannot allow republicans with the same economic plan to get back in control of the reigns" for the rest of the campaign.
